Mobile Developer

hedgehog lab is growing rapidly with around 400% growth in the last year. As part of our exciting growth, we are working on some great projects for FTSE 250 companies and we are now on the look out for a Mobile Developer to join our team of geeks at the hedgehog lab HQ.

Ideally, you will have great passion for software in general and for the web and mobile in particular. Programming is not just a job but a hobby for you and you’d much rather have the latest eeepc or the newest distro of Ubuntu for Christmas.

We want someone more than an "employee", who takes a 9 to 5 pay-check and wants a job typing away at a keyboard. We want people who want to change the world, re-write the Linux operating system, or build the next iPhone. Is that you?

We aren't interested in specific platform programmers. We want people who can pick up new programming languages with ease and are happy to attack a problem.

Responsibilities

  • The role will primarily involve working on mobile projects including mobile web apps/sites and native apps.
  • Using agile software development methodologies
  • Assist in maintaining existing apps, including bug fixes, enhancements, and miscellaneous maintenance
  • Demonstrate clear progress and a willingness to advance towards a more senior role

Requirements

  • Understanding of mobile development best practices (i.e. responsive design, progressive enhancement, graceful degradation, multi-platform capabilities)
  • 2-3 years of industry or freelance experience
  • Proven experience of multiple programming languages/technologies and ability to pick up new tools quickly

Preferred Skillset

  • Cross-platform mobile web & native app development experience (iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7, webOS, etc)
  • Programming background
  • Strong JavaScript experience: familiarity with various JavaScript frameworks (especially Sencha Touch), Ajax/JSON, and gesture/touch-based JavaScript
  • Effective verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work on a team and learn from colleagues

General Stuff

We hear you say, "Ok! You sound like a decent company but what are the perks?". How about the following for starters:

  • 28 days paid holiday every year
  • Profit sharing scheme (you get an even share whether you are a Director or a developer)
  • Flexibility to work from home (if you ask nicely)
  • Company mobile phone
